Volunteer Prospecting

The Problem

Wake Forest University’s (WFU) Development and Alumni saw an opportunity to enlist alumni volunteers to leverage relationships to grow fundraising efforts. Volunteer fundraising is not new, but is usually difficult to facilitate and manage because of technology challenges.

Alumni Volunteer Fundraising requires sharing secure information with volunteers, assigning fundraising opportunities, and managing those fundraising activities. WFU realized that out-of-the-box technology solutions would not meet these needs.

The Solution

Zuri Group developed a Volunteer module embedded in WFU’s Alumni Directory that is seamlessly integrated between the back-end database (Blackbaud CRM) and web interface (Blackbaud Information Systems). The integration keeps both staff and volunteers up to date with any changes or fundraising activity.

Zuri Group assisted previously to customize WFU’s Alumni Directory, using BBIS and BBCRM, and is WFU’s partner of choice for this types of customizations.

The Result

Integrated volunteer fundraising, through easy access to information, real-time updates, and consolidated management and reports.

Volunteers search for classmates in the Wake Forest Community and request fundraising assignments. Once assigned, the Volunteer Module, via BBIS, allows volunteers to access contact and gift/pledge information from the CRM and record their interactions with prospects.

Volunteers can update prospect information directly to CRM.

WFU staff can manage volunteers, assignments, and prospects directly in CRM.
